and Corporate Communications

CARROLLTON, Texas, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- CellStar Corporation
(Nasdaq: CLST) today announced that it has hired Stephen P. Adams as
director -- investor relations and corporate communications.

"We're delighted to have Steve join our corporate management team," said
Austin P. Young, senior vice president and chief financial officer at CellStar.
"When we set out to fill this position, we sought someone who is highly skilled
in investor relations and corporate communications. Steve's credentials in both
of these areas are very strong. We believe he will be a valuable asset to us as
we strengthen our capabilities in these two important areas."

From 1989 to 1998, Steve held the position of manager-investor relations for
Zurn Industries, a $700MM manufacturer of building products. When Zurn
was acquired, Steve joined FirstPlus Financial group as vice president- investor
relations. Most recently, he has guided the investor relation's function for
Internet America.

Steve is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute. He and his wife
reside in Irving, Texas.
