Wi-LAN and Ericsson Canada Team up for Wireless Innovation
TORONTO, ONTARIO and CALGARY, ALBERTA--

Agreement Sets Stage for Fixed Wireless Projects Across Canada

Wi-LAN Inc. (TSE: WIN - news), and Ericsson Canada Inc., today announced an agreement to pursue joint marketing opportunities in Canada for projects that incorporate Wi-LAN fixed wireless broadband products within Ericsson's end-to-end offering. The joint efforts will focus on contracts for Multipoint Communications Systems (MCS) in the 2.5 GHz range.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson Canada will provide a complete network solution, including Ericsson's IP backbone and Voice-over-IP (VoIP), allowing service providers to roll-out fixed wireless broadband services rapidly and economically. Ericsson will also provide systems integration services. Wi-LAN will act as sole supplier of high-speed wireless broadband access to Ericsson in the joint projects, through its I.WiLL(TM) product line. Powered by Wi-LAN's patented W-OFDM technology, the I.WiLL system provides the foundation for deploying high-speed, secure, scaleable and cost-effective broadband wireless access networks.

``This teaming agreement brings customers the best of both worlds,'' said Hatim Zaghloul, Chairman and CEO, Wi-LAN. ``Our patented wireless technologies, coupled with Ericsson's depth and leadership in the telecommunications marketplace, will offer carriers the kind of high-speed solutions that will define tomorrow's way of doing business. This strategic agreement has the potential to generate increased market share for both companies and we look forward to working with Ericsson for many years to come.''

``Ericsson is committed to offering our customers complete voice and data communications networks that incorporate best-of-breed technologies, and Wi-LAN's products are among the fastest and most innovative in the wireless industry today,'' said Brian Barry, President and CEO, Ericsson Canada Inc. ``Working together, we will provide leading-edge wireless solutions to consumers in service areas across Canada.''
