To AMD investor types - are these examples of some of the mindset that analysts have on Wall St.vis-a-vis Intel, and AMD? I'm not an investor.. so you guys tell me.

The article describes the situation exactly right. Intel is the favored son who can do no wrong even when it does. What was very remarkable last Friday is that markets did not crash. I was very surprised.....as were many. That was either because some of Intel's influence has diminished or as L. Barret suggests, the preannouncement was not that bad.

Exhibit a) is this column, which I am sure some of you have already seen, written by Larry Barret on Zdnet, saying people will dump or ignore Intel at their peril.

zdii.com;

That's the only part of the article that disturbs me...that Intel will come back strong automatically. That assumes that the economy will stay strong over the next 12 mos. Its not likely that Intel will stay down because of Intel but because economic conditions and/or the semi cycle went south.

Its possible but not likely that Intel could do a temporary swan song like IBM did for a period of time.....where they float along without direction. Its like a company angst or depression that takes hold.

That article got a lot of flack.. one fella from JC's wrote in to him questioning his integrity and his ability to judge correctly what Intel would do. This was Larry's response:

Larry's address is Larry_Barrett@zdnet.com if you wish to comment on either.

Its not worth wasting the time to type the email. He's got it right.
