New leading edge products take time as this implies new market segments etc. Sometimes as you have noted, the development takes years. Alliance appears to be doing a good job on this by using venture capital.

I have always felt that marketing should provide the insight on what prospects look best, along with realistic evaluation of risk, and confidence factors on future sales.

New products often entail getting into bed with a buyer and contracting exclusive arrangements with non disclosure contracts, which often seem to go poorly over time. This is why I like the venture route better..

ALSC has been pretty good at disclosing strategy, and it does look like things are working well.

My reference to Titan's problems was interesting in as much as the thread from that point on had some things to say.
If anything, the tone of it makes one cautious.
