I was actually a follower of SMTR for years, but then I gave up as SMTR products never did get themselves on most vehicles. It is sad that it took tragedy to get these products recognized. BTW, I knew SMTR back when it was Truk Tek. That was along time ago.

Perhaps SMTR's time has come. I read in the USA Today a couple weekends ago that Someone(perhaps GM) is going to put the SMTR system on all their light trucks, minivans, and I think it said SUVs by the year 2003. I also saw its product highlighted on the Today show.

What is special now is that SMTR may not only benefit from an initial push by OEMs for "good PR", but also by an eventual mandate from governments forcing OEMs, that being tire companies and automobile manufacturers, to put these products on all tires. Therefore, SMTR products may become standard equipment, like having a light indicators, door locks, or lights.
