re: DDR standards. The industry isn't as loosey goosey as some would imply.

Thanks for chasing down the JEDEC stuff. Is this any different from the JEDEC committee specification/recommendation for PC100 SDRAM and the ugliness it was (until Intel straightened it out)? In other words, what has changed? Is JEDEC now planning to provide a testing service with a GO/NOGO decision-making capability?

<edit: Additional Questions: Or is JEDEC expecting that Intel or someone will help sort it all out after things start shipping? Specifically, are they being any more proactive than they've been before, or is it business as usual?>

<edit2: What's the penalty if a DRAM company ships DIMMS without the JEDEC "stamp-of-approval"?>
