Jewish zealots are every bit as bad as Christian zealots. I don't like any zealots.
In fact, I like people who have a sense of humor about their beliefs. Since it is impossible (imo) to really be sure of anything, it is extremely silly to get all hot and bothered and judgmental. I EVEN have a hard time getting judgmental about people who are judgmental.
So you are wrong. If a wandering zealotous Jew came by I would point out the very same thing to them I point out to you. Christians just happen to be the loudest voices here- so far no member of Islam and no Jews or Hindus have stopped by to tell us there's is the only true way, there's is the only history that's absolutely true, yada yada yada. But if they do I'll be just as skeptical.
I am convinced you are wrong, but I would do nothing to stop you from being wrong because I know that even though what you do might seem wrong to me, it might not be. I might share my opinion with you, but that is all. Buddha was truly enlightened- and went about the world as a teacher- he rejected transformation that he might stay among the world's people and serve as an example. To teach sometimes you have to give your opinion, and to give an opinion sometimes you use the words right and wrong- but that is not to say there is an absolute right and wrong, which is I think the difference in our world views that you are missing. It is a tremendous difference.
I do not disprove your world view, there is no need, I merely say the probability of your being right is slim. I would never say, for example- THERE WAS NO JESUS. I would say, the probability that a Jesus existed, fitting the facts in the Bible, are probably small. I would not try to prove a negative. And you cannot prove your positive. All is uncertain- and for me that doesn't matter a bit. The fact that we disagree supports my worldview that all things are relative. If things were not relative we would see all things exactly the same, wouldn't we? This is clearly not the case. We see the world quite differently. I know from experience and observation that I see the world differently from many people, and those people frequently see the world differently from each other.
So I suggest that my world view is so different from your world view that you do not even understand my world view. I can't be sure of that, of course, but I suspect it based on your post. |
