Microsoft will be the leader of the new economy. --- Oh no! Not *another* new economy! That's going to confuse the hell out of the FED.<g> --- John, just as IBM didn't become the leader of the PC paradigm, MS will not become the leader of the 'networked' paradigm. In the entire history of commerce, no company has made the transition. More than an axiom, it's like a law of nature. --- And as long as MS remains focused on 'winning' instead of 'settling', they're not going to be leading *anything. --- The breakup order is a non-starter. This whole thing can be put to bed, just as prior to judgement and remedy (IMO) with one very simple act; publishing the source code for the MS operating system. It really is (I think) that simple. They couldn't make than a remedy without MS posturing with some flag waving outrage that the govt wants to confiscate it's property. It *is though all I think that's needed to get US Govt and European prosecuters off it's back. --- New economy 'competitors' have open everything possible. OLD economy companies cling to the proprietary. -JCJ
