Seems to me that the process that Eliades used for his "sign of the bear" is data mining.

As such, it would be fabulous for "predicting" bear markets during the LAST 70 years.

How useful it will be for the next 70 years is in question.

Any data mining set of rules that are as complex and convoluted as those Eliades derived usually tend to be utterly worthless.
