I came across some folks who were discussing an interesting possibility. Did it ever occur to you that T, through its purchases of advanced STBs, is planning to do a run around Home? STBs, when used to their fullest, could be made to provide suitable (comparable to dsl) Internet service. With some modifications to the fiber plant and spectrum plan (which, btw, T is already doing in the way of Lightwire), and with a few turns of the screw driver (figuratively speaking, that is... it would actually take a few turns of Cable Labs), they could even do much better than DSL. Why? Too Machiavellian, you say? Think about it. Virtual segregation.
T could bifurcate the cable span and retain their own, sovereign data facility when the time comes due for them to open up access in another... two years, is it? Or did one of those just go by?
