And forgot to mention - INRANGE Technologies Announces Worldwide Storage Networking Alliance With HP

HP to Resell INRANGE's IN-VSN Storage Offerings to Support Business Continuance and Virtual Storage Networks

biz.yahoo.com

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The impact of e.business and the growing reliance on universal access to stored information make business continuance and recovery plans essential for today's corporations. Many corporate users are now demanding systems that provide full business continuance affordably for geographically dispersed processing sites.

To address this need, INRANGE Technologies (Nasdaq: INRG - news) announced today that it has entered into a worldwide reseller agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company. HP's Complementary Products Division (HPCP), an organization that partners with a large number of vendors to complement HP's product, solutions and services portfolio with third-party solutions, will offer INRANGE's IN- VSN(TM) 9801 SNS Storage Networking System and GigaMux(TM) Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer as virtual storage networking solutions for enabling the use of HP SureStore E Disk Array XP256 and XP512 in disk mirroring and data replication applications.

The 9801 SNS and GigaMux DWDM will enable HP SureStore E Disk Array XP256 and XP512 to operate over industry-standard telecommunications services, such as ATM and T3-E3 networks, or over private or leased optical networks. The GigaMux DWDM, an optical multiplexer that can turn one optical fiber into as many as 256 ESCON channels, leverages the cost of existing fiber within a network and can extend fiber applications over long distances.

[Ed. I'm confused, the HP XP256 and XP512 are Fibre Channel Arrays. Does the GigaMux convert to Fibre Channel channels or are the XPs ESCON enabled? Also, I'm just guessing, but the 9801 SNS may contain a FC-ATM Board, one of four, that Ancor made with Inrange.]

INRANGE's worldwide sales and support organizations will team with HPCP and HP's storage sales organizations in providing extended distance mirroring solutions for enterprise storage network customers.
