Active Voice Unveils New Lotus Unified Messaging Solution

Preview of Unity(TM) Enterprise for Domino Over IP Telephony
Held at Lotusphere Europe 2000

BERLIN, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its leadership in the
global Unified Messaging and IP telephony market,
Active Voice Corporation (Nasdaq: ACVC), today announced a pre-release
demonstration of its new Unity Enterprise for Domino -- a true unified
messaging communications server for Lotus Notes and Domino. The preview is
taking place this week at Lotusphere Europe 2000 in Berlin, Germany, in
exhibit 15N02. The demonstrations will showcase the powerful messaging
capabilities of Unity Enterprise for Domino in a pure software, native
Internet Protocol (IP) telephony integration with Cisco's CallManager IP
telephone system. (Unity(TM) is the first and only unified messaging solution
to provide this pure software integration.) Unity Enterprise for Domino
offers Lotus customers increased scalability, reliability, and lower total
cost of ownership in a truly converged infrastructure, resulting in greater
productivity throughout an organization.
"Our Fortune 500 customers have asked for a Lotus-based unified messaging
solution that will provide the reliability and robust user features they enjoy
in our other unified messaging solutions," says Ken Myer Active Voice's
executive vice president of sales and marketing. "They are also looking for a
Lotus solution that can be easily integrated with existing networks of
installed PBXs, as well as the new IP-PBXs. Active Voice's products have
always, and will continue to meet the needs of the market and provide value to
our customers. By introducing Unity Enterprise for Domino, we will enhance
our market share, global sales, and further distinguish our products."
Unity Enterprise for Domino leverages the technology of Active Voice's
Enterprise-scaled Unity(TM) unified messaging communications server.
Customers can expect the powerful user-friendly features, global
localizations, and tight switch integrations that are available today in
Unity-when Unity Enterprise for Domino is released early in 2001.
Unity Enterprise for Domino offers true unified messaging for medium- to
large-scaled enterprise businesses. Unity Enterprise for Domino provides
today's knowledge workers with greater control and better access to their
communication tools by delivering every voice, fax, and e-mail message
directly into the user's Lotus Notes Inbox. This will enable users to access
and manage their messages by using a PC, any touch-tone telephone, or the
Internet. As a true unified messaging solution, it shares the same directory
and message store as the Domino server. Because it was built to simplify
system administration, message network operations, and end-user training,
Unity Enterprise for Domino will dramatically lower an organization's total
cost of ownership, compared to products that use a proprietary enterprise
directory and message store.
Unity Enterprise for Domino connects to IP-PBXs from providers such Cisco,
Sphere Communications, Tundo, and Vertical Networks. With native IP
integration, Unity connects with Cisco CallManager 3.0(1) through a single
Ethernet cable. This is significantly easier and more cost-effective than
other IP-ready products that require traditional voice boards in the messaging
server and legacy circuit and SMDI interface support on the IP-PBX. Unity
eliminates this additional hardware that can add more than 20 percent per port
in end-user costs.
Unity Enterprise for Domino joins Active Voice's award-winning, unified
messaging solution line-up-Unity(TM) Enterprise, PhoneSoft(TM), Unity(TM)
Connection and Repartee(R) CTI-increasing its offerings to five "best of
class" solutions developed to meet the needs of small, medium, and large
Enterprise businesses. For more information on Active Voice's unified
