[World DRAM Price] DIMM Spot Prices Continue to Decline September 27, 2000 (TOKYO) -- The spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC133) declined in North America, Europe and Asia, according to Nikkei Market Access.
The prices declined by 0.72 percent to US$127.41 in North America, by 0.50 percent to US$128.18 in Europe, and by 0.99 percent to US$126.08 in Asia.
The report is based on a survey of worldwide DRAM prices conducted by ICIS-LOR, which is based on London, Houston and Singapore.
So far in Taiwan, motherboard production for PCs normally grows in September, but this year is not the same. This is feared to have a negative impact on the year-end shopping season. DRAM prices will continue to decline if the demand for PCs does not grow.
The rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) for large-volume users for the 30-day period (Aug. 10 to Sept. 8) are as follows: US$15.82 in North America, US$16.55 in Europe and US$15.98 in Asia.
Compared with the previous week (30-day rolling average through Sept. 1), the prices in North America remained unchanged, while those in Europe and Asia rose by 1.34 percent and 1.29 percent, respectively.
