if i were Bush, i'd demand an independent audit of the BLS reports over the past two years...the dude from MER's trading desk just said: "we're seeing window dressing by institutions to get their portfolios ready for the next quarter".

that's the most spurious explanation i have ever heard voiced by anyone regarding the eoq paint job. obviously he can't say "they fraudulently and in breach of their fiduciary duties mark up their biggest positions so as to not endanger their quarterly bonuses and to make their portfolios look better to investors than they actually are".

the SEC meantime is off hunting 15-year olds.
