John, The problem with DRDRAM power consumption is not the total heat, but rather the heat density. There are a large number of banks on each chip, which causes a lot of localized heat. Heat spreaders are used on RIMMS to manage this problem. Doubling the number of chips on the RIMM would aggravate the problem severely. Apparently you have never been in a lab where a chip burned up. The smell is very offensive and toxic. Scumbria
