Dear Tench:

What you do not appreciate is the wide ranging applications of LDT. If the memory is connected to a northbridge and then is delivered through the CPU by LDT, this would simulate it. The more probable method would be DDR-SDRAM (or perhaps QDR or ODR) directly connected to the CPU. In that case, many different connection schemes could be realized from single channel to 4 way interleave 256 bit wide. Any way, the bandwidth could be very high and most likely higher than a LDT connection.

LDT's strength is its versatility.
