I have to laugh...........Athletes go for gold in bed, condoms rushed in
SYDNEY, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Athletes at the Sydney Olympics are going all out to be winners in bed as well as in the sports arena.
That is the verdict of Ansell, official supplier of condoms for the Games, after the company rushed in an extra 20,000 on Wednesday night to cope with demand in the athletes' village before the 17-day Olympics close on Sunday.
``Judging by the demand the medal tally is certainly rising both in and out of the sporting arena,'' said Ansell spokesman Burton Van Rooyen.
Nearly 80,000 condoms had been distributed within the village up to Wednesday, leaving just 20,000 before the extra supplies were sent in. The condoms are handed out free in the village, home to some 16,000 athletes and officials.
Condoms called LifeStyles Sport were proving popular, as were others with peppermint green studs and strawberry ribbing.
Van Rooyen said the company was meeting requests from some athletes for larger condoms. |
