Maverick,

What if AMD owns an equity stake in Transmeta ...?

The cost to buy Transmeta would be prohibitive (in the billions), either in shares (trading low-PE shares for high-PE equity) or in cash (more debt financing). Transmeta is unproven in the market place and has yet to be proved more than a niche player.

... gains royalty from licensing LDT ...

There ARE no royalties for LDT licenses! How could AMD start now that they have given them away for free previously?

... fabs for Crusoe ...

If fabbing Crusoe chips will be such a lucrative business, why doesn't IBM or NSM have it exclusively locked-up already?
