Scumbria,

On pricewatch, 64MB of DRDRAM sells for >$119.

Small systems aren't going to use RIMMs and you know it. Also, the average memory size is going to be less than 64MB. I can't find individual chip prices on Pricewatch. Can anyone else find a quote on RDRAM chips (128Mb to give a 16MB memory) since Scumbria isn't helping?

Your $200 number is still going to be pure BS.

Embedded systems has nothing to do with embedded memory. Embedded systems are where the vast majority of the world's microprocessors go.

You were the one who said "low-cost", not me. That's what I keyed on. I'd be curious to see how much of the total market for stand-alone memory these systems use. That's what's important for this thread.

How much does the Panasonic Satellite box sell for?

Pricing, as far as I know, has not been announced. Just like cell phones, however, the price of the hardware will probably be pretty low so that they can hook you on the on-going service "annuity". In fact, I'll bet a lot of the "embedded systems" hardware will be subsidized in this manner.
