The CPI announcement can be speculated in several ways: (1) The outgoing crooks are burning up their mechanisms for manipulating the Fed balances and markets - no more 30-year buybacks, CPI de-adjustment, ... (2) The crooks are finding it too hard to cook the next CPI report. They need to adjust several months or much more to mitigate the next month's report. They're basically preannouncing a cooked report and making the adjustments in a report separate from the CPI report. This avoids a potential double negative in that report.
