Another good day for HGT, the gas royalty trust. Payments from HGT lag 2-3 months behind receipts, so that if natural gas should spike on extreme demand in January, HGT's income will go on increasing into March. And these monthly payments will be automatic, depending on the price of gas. I would expect a certain amount of speculative enthusiasm for the stock if this happens. But even if my own speculation does not pay off as much as I hope, it seems a safe place to be.

But I also have small holdings in a slew of small US and Canadian gas exploration/production outfits, in hopes of their being discovered or taken over. I know one that currently has a P/E of less than 1. Yes--its annual income is less than its price. Or was. Oops. AAVVP is up 100% today.
