that's a blessing and a curse at the same time....besides, it's easy to grow that fast when you're starting from a small base.

Yes, I know. I'm in for a 5 to 10 year time frame and my cost basis is from the meltdown earlier this year. I never expect this kind of growth to be sustained due to the "growing off the smaller base" issue. I was in early on Siebel and i2 as well. Those were different stories, though. They were actually small-caps when I invested. So was Harley Davidson. It's hard to find small-caps these days and when Ariba had their IPO back in the middle of 1999, I didn't consider it far enough along in their technology adoption life cycle to invest. I was perhaps too cautious, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

There are about three or four small-cap software companies that I am looking at with a specific niche market that I think have some good potential. Once again, they are very early in their cycle as well and my 'conservative' side is saying wait a few more quarters.

Just curious why you haven't been playing the ping and the pong of Ariba as it hops from the $140's to the $160's. Today was the 7th time it's dipped down into the $140's. I know you're waiting for the big rewards, but wondered if you played the smaller ones as well.
