Alex: You speak the truth. We had a dear neighbor who just passed away. We did much for her over the years because she was so kind to us. She was one of hundreds of thousands of women in this rich land who was trying to live off of her SS and pay her pharmacy bills, and food bills and car bills and plumbing bills. Many on this board would have us believe that the elderly all have plenty of money. Hogwash. If the Repubs take power in November, this group of people will be worse off, not better off. That is a point the Gore-Lieberman team needs to drive home. With a surplus of more than $200 billion just this year, surely some of this money can be used to make life better for America's needy widows and widowers, as opposed to making the rich richer. Compassionate conservatism = Hogwash.
