AOL signs w/Advants Advants is owned by BB:PHON
PHON is an old payphone company that saw the internet coming, dumped all of their payphones and built out a network of public internet terminals. They plan to build & place 30,000 terminals in the US alone.
AOL wants to be “AOL Everywhere”
PHON has 2,000,000 shares outstanding, 900,000 in the float. This should have some legs tomorrow.
This press release didn’t go out over the wire, but it is on their site. (www.advants.com) Maybe it didn’t happen yet. Maybe it’s a screw up prerelease.

Advants, Inc. Agreement with America Online, Inc. Advants, Inc. has signed an agreement with America Online, Inc. (AOL), the world's leading interactive services company. The agreement grants AOL's 23 million members Internet access while they are away from their normal connectivity at half the price of non-AOL members. The Advants terminal network furthers the AOL Anywhere concept and extends the convenience of AOL's service to its members. Advants terminals will carry the AOL logo branding the Advants terminal so AOL users can easily identify the terminal for their preferred Internet access when not at their normal connection. Branding may further include written materials by either company. Advants terminal users may "test drive" AOL and elect to sign up for AOL membership online at the Advants terminal. Users can take AOL disks, displayed on the terminal home to sign up for AOL services at a later date. The terminals will also highlight AOL's affiliate products, including Mapquest, MovieFone, and Digital City. |
