"The sound you hear is all the SNDK shareholders selling their stock so they can buy some SSTI shares. Yes sir, all that talk about getting the big block of shares out of SEG hands and into the hands of many, many individual shareholders sure has made a difference, hasn't it?"

Steve, I still have this Utopian vision that companies like SanDisk who have executed a magical (yes, magical) cross-over between esoteric, high tech, semiconductor research and highly appealing & practical consumer devices will have unprecedented popularity among the retail investors who will eventually encounter a SanDisk product. This is a purely Lynchian concept.

I have previously called this "The Iomega Effect"...

...but now I realize this is a terrible misnomer.

At the risk of being overly optimistic or painfully naïve I still believe that a broader shareholder base, with or without further splits, would be desirable.

If you care to poke fun at me, that is your own prerogative. I never expected this phenomenon to happen overnight. Digital photography is a nascent market. MP3 is a nascent market. PDA's are an adolescent market. Web phones are neonatal. I think current SNDK shareholders are way ahead of the curve. I have the patience to sit it out.

That's why they call me...

SanDisk...soon to be a household name.
