[Owning Technology ie. Patents ]

I would love to see more discussions along these lines. It has been my experience that a company succeeds more because if it's executives abilities to create a business with all the appropriate components (channels, support structure, financials, manufacturing, partners etc.) than on technology.

Technology is required of course and can be a differentiator but companies like GTE are at least equally concerned about how healthy the company is when entering into long term contracts for technology such as this than the specific features of the products. In the end the XDSL products will become very similar making a company dependant on these other issues for it's success.

I would like to know more about Amati's philosophy for setting up it's core business issues that will allow it's products to be distributed and supported worlwide. Although I am in complete agreement on the success of xDSL as a technology I am less able to select the winning company(s) because I don't have a good view of each of the business philosophies.

I am a long time lurker on this thread and hold equal amounts of Amati and Westell at this time.

Thnx Mike
