Thunder and Art, I disagree with both of you about a breakup. Microsoft is no T or Std Oil. Splitting geographical lines doesn't cause angst, splitting for the sake of punishing does. Employee retention will be a nightmarish job. I doubt that Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer will work for a broken up Microsoft. Do you really want to invest in a company which can't keep its employees or its CEO or chief architect ? I sure wouldn't.
