Texas is number one in public school enrollment.

36 in full time college enrollment.

15 in average annual pay.

Now, I have used the best available data on the web, from the 99 edition of the US Statistical Abstract, and it is still the case that all of the data is stale, that is, at least a couple of years old. Also, they do not give cost of living rank, part time college enrollment rank, or other contextual comparisons. Finally, looking over various rankings, in some cases the raw data is significant different, and in some instances, it is very close.
