Chinadotcom Allies With Mobile Handset
Company

Newsbytes - September 27, 2000 20:02

CHINA, HONG KONG, 2000 SEP 27 (NB) -- By Adam Creed,
Newsbytes. Hong Kong-based Chinese Internet company, chinadotcom corp.
[NASDAQ:CHINA], will go into business with retail mobile phone handset
distributor, CellStar Corp. [NASDAQ:CLST].

This latest deal forms part of chinadotcom's strategy to place itself firmly within
Greater China's wireless Internet market. Access to the Internet via mobile
phones is expected to exceed PC-based access in Asia.

CellStar is one of the largest mobile handset distributors in China with 1,200
shops across China's provinces. Chinadotcom will have access to these outlets
for its Internet applications.

Part of the deal will see CellStar handsets preprogrammed with a link to
chinadotcom's wireless application protocol (WAP) portal.

Other chinadotcom wirless Internet alliances include tie-ups with mobile phone
manufacturers Siemens and Motorola, Hong Kong mobile network operator
New World Mobility, and wireless application developers InfoisLive.com and
Nokia Artus Developers Program.
