MIchael, THe places that you have not frequented are what I am talking about. They majority of Elderly in this nation particulary the women who never worked for $$$$$$$ are in very dire straits. You have no clue until you viait the Nursing Homes and the Hospice Units. Why should the elderly be cared for???? When they Created the SS System, Did they tell the people who paid Taxes that they would have Cradle to Grave Coverage...YES What happened to all of the Social Security Interest on the Dividends???? I went into the General Fund and then on into the World Bank and everywhere it should not have gone. If this program had not been tapped. Every Senior in this Nation would have the necessities of life and enough extras to give to give to their Children andor/ Grandchildren. There is a large Underclass that is "falling" between the cracks. They are the seniors who were homemakers and worked the Menial Jobs This is a Bipartisan Issue and you have been very misled... I am old enough to have seen the many problems with"Tapping" into the SS Fund. Gore is correct there should be a Lock Box on it. but he will not do it. This is something that has yto be implemented by Congress and the Senate.... You are speaking based on what you have seen. I understand that. Viait the poor regions of the South and then decide who is right and who is wrong. My generation is called the "Silent Generation" or the Korean War generation and just as many of them died in Korea knowing they could only go to the 38th Paralell. Yet they kept Silent. I have a hunch that it is time for us to speak up. before we get trampled in the rush. We were the pioneers of the Computer Age (I have worked on a computer since 1970 ;-) Your comments are crude and vulgar' about something you know nothing about.. Just going into a Drugstore in Florida and finding an elderly person working behind the counter tells me one thing.. They have to to survive since these jobs pay minimum wage.. Some of these women have never worked and when widowed they get a base minimum in SS. What would you suggest???? Complaining about your Taxes is fair. I have been doing that for years..Will they cut taxes....NO They Have allocated $1.8 Billion to send to Columbia to fight the Drug Cartel. Our Economy is based on Drug $$$$$$$ as it has been in the past the Blood $$$$$$$ of War.... Come visit me in Florida and I will give you a tour that you will never forget...and it won't include Disneyworld...Now I am entering the Heart Institute at Bayonet Point, Fla. on Monday for Open Heart Surgery, and your taxes are paying for that too ;-) You have a head start so you can start "Bitching" now.......I am not on SS eother;-)))))
