CSFB thinks the wireless push is a strong part of NT's forward opportunities.

This is from a 9/28/00 intraday note.......
______________

Nortel Networks (NT-$59.63-Cap $183B-Strong Buy)

Continued Momentum in NT’s Wireless Business FY00E: $0.73, FY01E: $1.00

· Nortel announced wireless contract expansions of $250M at Chunghwa Telecom and $275M at China Unicom (both existing customers); DIGITEL (in the Philippines) also announced it awarded NT a $200M contract for GSM 1800 mobile network, subject to execution of definitive agreement.

· Chunghwa is deploying GSM 900/1800 dual-band digital cellular network and Unicom is implementing NT’s GPRS network infrastructure; Majority of revenue under these new contracts anticipated to be recognized in 2000, with remaining portion occurring in 2001; No vendor financing was associated with these contracts.

· To support anticipated growth in Asia Pacific wireless market, NT is increasing workforce in that region by 30% by year-end 2001 (1,400 new hires);

Reiterate STRONG BUY and $120 price target.
