Hello again Christopher, IMHO, Cymer is recovering schedule delinquencies rapidly and their output is continuing to ramp agressively. There is no competition, yet, and Komatsu's suit against Seiko is no big risk, again IMHO.
For some idea how agressively the industry is moving to quarter micron, check out the link below. As for whether DUV is essential to quarter micron widths, I belive only SVGL, a division of SVGI, has with Intel's help developed some 0.25 capability using mercury bulbs, but they have less than 3% of the stepper market and may be being used only in limited applications. (SVGL is a Cymer customer for their latest product develpments). Nikon, Canon and ASMLF have 95% of the market and all are committed to Cymer's DUV's.
