Hey, Cos, I don't know Godel at all! So NOW am trying to read posts backwards- but can tell already that you and Solon will lose me completely and quickly. I am getting the same feeling I get on logic questions on IQ tests. I want to smack you both for confusing me and go get a glass of wine and put something soothing on the stereo- something illogical- not Bach. ANd then read some Stephen King or something. My son is reading and recommending Godel, Escher and Bach to everyone. I'll have to tell him to visit here. Value on human lives- well, goodness- yes, we do that constantly in many ways. We always value more highly those closest to us, or those who are "worth" more to society; we protect our brightest from actual combat in wars, some cultures murder their females, we are selective about who receives transplants, we abort "abnormal" fetuses....
