No, no, no, no, no, no! The Count of Monte Cristo was the alias adopted by the much wronged sailor Edmund Dantes. He met the Abbe Faria in the prison of Chateau d'If who told him of a great lost fortune. Dantes escaped in the burial shroud of the Abbe after the Abbe died, recovered the lost fortune, and used it to achieve a bittersweet revenge against those who had ruined him.

It's kind of the original Bruce Willis movie.
