As you might know, I live in Hawaii. A major home building products company opened a megastore here -- open 24 hours a day. I went there just after midnight and got stuck in a very, very long line at the checkout - the place was packed and the people working the cash registers were really shocked. Store openings a really big deal here --- any store. The cash register people, most of whom were from California, commented that no matter how long the lines, nobody, not one person complained -- not a word. And they wondered why. They said in California it would have been an angry chaotic scene -- but in Hawaii, well, we all just stood there and waited politely in complete silence. They took it to mean we don't mind waiting. They should have known better -- everybody was very pissed off - only here you would never show it. Do you know it is an offense here to honk your horn unless it is a "life threatening situation" :)
