The PC could be going in the closet soon, while diskless devices will be accessing the network in greater numbers. No the PC will not be gathering dust, it might become a home server. By the way, hard drives are not disappearing, they are just moving to a different location, attached to the network located where the information is being delivered from. SO what does it all mean? It means that the high tech market that has been centered around the PC is shifting to the network. Rarely do great breaks with the past happen in a clean fashion or do they happen all at once. So, we are in a transition period, while we wait for (here it is again) Broadband for the masses!
