"To avoid the contraction pains of a decelerating market, Sagawa recommends avoiding highly valued stocks like Cisco, Nortel and Ericsson (ERICY), which he rates an Underperform. Instead, the report advises investors to shed some of their holdings in the sector and concentrate on "low P/E stocks with valuation support," like Lucent Technologies (LU), Motorola (MOT) and 3Com (COMS). Sagawa also likes those equipment sellers less dependent on carriers' spending, like handset and personal-digital-assistant vendors Nokia (NOK) and Palm (PALM).
