C-Cube Microsys -2: Lehman Cut Follows 2Q Outlook >CUBE

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Lehman Brothers Inc. cut its rating of C-Cube
Microsystems Inc. (CUBE) to outperform from buy, a source at the firm said.

The downgrade follows an announcement Tuesday by the Milpitas, Calif., digital
video company that second-quarter earnings could fall as much as 50% below Wall
Street expectations.

The company cited seasonal factors and increased competition. It said earnings will
probably be 20 to 25 cents a share. Analysts cited by First Call Inc. had predicted
earnings of 40 cents.

The announcement caused C-Cube shares to fall 5 5/8, or 22.1%, to 19 7/8
Tuesday. Wednesday morning, shares were up 1/8 at 20 on volume of 1 million,
compared with average daily volume of 1.3 million.

Additional information about Lehman Brothers' downgrade was not immediately
available.
