Scumbria,

Hardly. The problem is that you can't sell a $599 computer with $200 worth of DRDRAM. Or even $100.

I know you want to lay every problem and issue with Timna at Rambus's door. The reality, however, is that this is not the issue. As I pointed out several weeks ago, the delay was due to the MTH issue. And I will go find the articles from earlier this year that expressed wonderment over Intel's desire to introduce a low-end system with an integrated graphics engine that could hurt the Celeron business. I haven't expressed opinions about the possible success or failure of Timna either way because of the concerns expressed in these articles. But RDRAM is not the issue in cancelling the product, either.

You know, 6 months ago, you would have been complaining about selling a $599 computer with $600 worth of RDRAM. The price has come down tremendously since then, so that you're now complaining about $200 worth of RDRAM (although the correct numbers are probably closer to $300 and $100). Sensing a trend, here? Are you going to continue to complain when the price of RDRAM is even lower? Or can we hope that you'll shut up on this?

Speaking of the price declines in RDRAM, who's more correct in their prediction -- the bears who said it would never come down or the bulls who said it would?
