The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:

The Good (1):
Intel delays the P4 launch resulting in AMD having an easier time getting design wins for high speed parts in Q4. I'm sure the phone is ringing off the hook at AMD sales offices this morning. OEMs have woken up to the fact that they can no longer rely on Intel product launches. This delay also has the benefit that Dell, who I hate almost as much as Intel, will not be able to sell as many P4 systems in Q4 as they had expected. They were counting on Q4 to save their year -- too bad for Dell. MickyD is probably sending some roses over to Sander's office as I type. He knows that if they can not secure orders for Mustang in Q1, that they will have to lower their growth guidance for 2001.

The Good (2): Timna is cancelled! I don't see this affecting AMD market share (could help VIA) because it was expected to be a relatively low performing part. But, it is another black eye for Intel, and further brings into question their strategic planning and decision making processes. Intel is looking like a "clown company".

The Bad:Motorola is pissed at Hector Ruiz. This could have far-reaching negative implications -- in terms of the AMD/MOT technology alliance.

The Ugly: Apple gets creamed! This could actually be good news for AMD. It might help push Apple towards using AMD chips. OS X should be an easy port.

It is just amazing that AMD is not trading up on the sum of the news that has come out over the last 24 hours.

Pravin.
