Please review the following

The Silicon Investor Terms of Use explicitly indicate a number of different activities that will not be tolerated on the site. Nevertheless, the Silicon Investor Site Administrators have an extremely difficult job since there are often extenuating circumstances and shades of gray. For this reason, the Terms of Use explicitly state that we have the complete authority to administer Silicon Investor in any way that we see fit. In other words, if we find behavior that is contrary to the goals and wishes of the community, then we can and will take action, regardless of whether that behavior is explicitly mentioned in the Silicon Investor Terms of Use or not.
Our objective is to enforce the Terms of Use as evenly and consistently as possible. With that in mind, we have prepared the following guidelines to help you understand how we typically enforce the rules and respond to Terms of Use violations.

NOTE: Again, please keep in mind that we can and will deviate from these guidelines in the best interest of the SI community, as determined by the SI Administrators.

Silicon Investor Offenses
Silicon Investor Offenses involve relatively minor infractions of the Silicon Investor Terms of Use. In these cases, particularly with first-time offenders, the member has often unintentionally stepped over the line, or let his/her emotions take control. Silicon Investor Offenses will typically be administered as follows:

Description First Offense Additional Offense
Vulgarity Written warning. 3 day suspension.
Spamming Written warning. 3 day suspension.
Off-Topic Posting Written warning. 3 day suspension.
Copyright Violation Written warning. 3 day suspension.

Silicon Investor Misdemeanors
Silicon Investor Misdemeanors are more serious violations of the Terms of Use and warrant harsher action, even with first time offenders. Silicon Investor Offenses can rise to the level of Misdemeanors if they are repeat Offenses by the same member. Silicon Investor Misdemeanors will typically be administered as follows:

Description First Offense Additional Offense
Personal Attack 3 day suspension. 5 day suspension.
Advertising 3 day suspension. 5 day suspension.
Multiple Accounts 5 day suspension. 10 day suspension.
Repeat Offenses 5 day suspension. 10 day suspension.

Silicon Investor Felonies
Silicon Investor Felonies are defined as serious violations of the Terms of Use and/or repeat Misdemeanor offenders. Felony violations will be met with increasingly severe suspensions and possible termination of membership. Silicon Investor Felonies will typically be administered as follows:

Description First Offense Additional Offense
Posting Personal Info 14 day suspension. 2nd - 30 day suspension.
3rd - 45 day suspension.
Personal Attacks Against SI Admins 14 day suspension. 2nd - 30 day suspension.
3rd - 45 day suspension.
Repeat Misdemeanors and Offenses 14 day suspension. 2nd - 30 day suspension.
3rd - 45 day suspension.

Post Removals

All posts that include any type of Silicon Investor Terms of Use Violation shall be deleted.
Deleted posts shall be archived in the Silicon Investor Administration records for future reference.
Silicon Investor Member Terminations

All members who receive a 45-day suspension shall be automatically subject to termination. In other words, during any 45-day suspension, a member’s account and violation(s) will be reviewed as to whether the violation warrants termination, in addition to said suspension.
Note: A 45-day suspension is not a pre-requisite to a termination. Members may be terminated for any violation of the Terms of Use at any time.
Refunds shall not be issued to members who are terminated for Terms of Use Violations.
