RAVISENT's CinePlayer Software Receives WHQL Certification for Windows Millennium Edition; CinePlayer Certified on Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 and Windows 2000
MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 2000--RAVISENT Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: RVST), a provider of digital audio and video software solutions, today announced that its CinePlayer(TM) all-software media player solution, has officially received Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) certification for the Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft's new home and business computer operating system.
Leading PC Original Equipment Manufactures (OEMs) require Microsoft WHQL compliance from their DVD software vendor prior to delivering any software DVD player. Selecting a software DVD player like CinePlayer, that is Microsoft WHQL compliant, ensures the PC OEM that they are delivering a Microsoft quality product to the marketplace.
The CinePlayer media player builds on RAVISENT's highly successful core technology CineMaster(R) - enabling playback of existing audio and video content for the ultimate in PC home entertainment.
CinePlayer offers PC OEMs an all-software media player solution designed to decode DVD, Video CD, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video streams; as well as CD audio, Dolby Digital AC-3, LPCM, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 digital audio formats, for a completely new way to experience digital video and audio playback.
"Our commitment to deliver digital video solutions and supporting Microsoft WHQL guidelines demonstrates our ability to ensure maximum compatibility and usability of our technologies," said Alan McCann, Senior Vice President and General Manager of RAVISENT's Digital Media Division. "What we do best is enable major OEM's to deliver the latest digital video entertainment solutions surpassing industry standards."
