<Where is Gil Amelio!!!> Jobs is good a good short term guy. I've always thought Amelio was more of a long term thinker. He did a better job than people think. The benefits to apple he brought didn't show up until after the Jobs coup. Jobs hasn't reassured the pros like me and we are the guys that recommend to people. For Apple to really grow they have to convince the pros to change over and it hasn't been happening. The profit margin approach they've been using won't work in a modern world, cash flow is what they need to get. They sell professional computers at a premium but the quality of the internals has been going down so they can maintain the profit margins. Unlike newbies Professionals know the difference. A lot of professionals don't mind spending more if the value is there. It's just not now. Many Appleites have idolized Jobs in the past, wonder if they'll change their tunes now. Like I've always said, it all depends on OSX. Maybe this will be the wakeup call they need to get rid of the junk they are putting into it and get that interface in order. Right now it's just for experienced users and geeks. They need to make it incredibly user friendly for luddites like my ex. I'm with Stockpuppy. I wouldn't buy a new G4 right now. OSX isn't really out yet so the multiprocessor thing is like Altavec, nice for what it does, but limited. The OSX thing is a good idea but they have to make it work. Computers are tools. What makes a computer so different than other tools? It's the first tool that can morph into another tool. For instance it can be used to do spread sheets and business analysis, or communictions, or graphics, or... So if Apple can only beat a WinAthlon machine in one or two things it looses overall. Still OSX is worth watching and I haven't quite given up on Apple yet.
