It is questionable as to how INTC is going to integrate a modem
in a chip (CPU I suppose). Networking is a separate area and
constantly updating. If I buy a computer with intel modem and
after 6 months a much better modem comes out, will I throw my CPU
and buy another for $1000 just for modem OR will I buy a 3rd party modem for $300. If Intel has a separate modem chip, there is no reasom
for USRX not to send the design to a fab and manufacture and sell it
thenselves. After INTC is going to lisence the design from USRX.

This is the same situation when INTC went to compete with 3COM etc
for low end switches. The best product will survive. Whether it is
INTC or USRX. If INTC innovates better modem technology than USRX,
USRX will be wiped out. Otherwise Intel's modem division will be wiped
out.
