I have always believed that MKE made money on this business. I also believed that their link to Panasonic would assure that they would remain in this business, as more and more consumer products that Panasonic makes use hard drives. I also think it was LT who said that MKE's initial objections to the MXTR/HDD merger were overcome by giving them equity participation in the merged companies. It seems to me that keeping MKE plus their own capacity would give the company ideal flexibility to adjust to the continuing changing circumstances of the drive sector.
