Mike,

Hate to disagree with you (actually, I don't), but I just watched the interview (PST) and I think this is an example of taking statements out of context. Carter stated two times that Lithuania played hard, and McDyess said several times that they had heart. When asked about the win in THE CONTEXT OF PREVIOUS DREAM TEAMS AND THE PRESSURE OF BEING EXPECTED TO WIN EASILY, Carter made the statement, "We won, I don't care what the World thinks, we won and that's all that matters." A bit defensive, yes, but these guys are playing under tremendous pressure not to lose.

I watched the interview an hour and a half after reading your comments expecting to see a boorish typical ugly American display by a former NC Tarheel (who I have no love for)...and didn't see it that way. Carter isn't the most eloquent guy in the world, but I don't think that what he said IN CONTEXT was so bad.
