Hi Sam,
<<I was startled to read, <<MKE will exit over time and turn all manufacturing back to the newly combined HDD-Maxtor who will re-up their idled work in Dalien China IMO.>>

I think the MKE - Quantum relationship began to sour over the disposition of their head manufacturing JV. Th word on the street is that MKE has sought to exit the business for some time. It has not been an especially rewarding venture and they have other products competing for factory capacities. I had also heard conjecture that MKE had wanted to avoid the Maxtor acquisition but do not believe them to be credible. In addition this deal has been driven by Cannon's desire to be acquired. He has been shopping Maxtor for quite a while as I understand it.
Best,
Stitch
