I am still here, so it could be deducted that I am not afraid of those who are so eager to find fault with the institution of Religion.
You speak so strongly about the possibility that I cannot tolerate criticism. Seems to me that you are the ones who cannot tolerate criticism - I have indicated that I was offended by the manner in which the discussion was begun, and both you and X The Unknown have told me to go elsewhere.
I recognize the dichotomy here, and also recognize that if I do not agree with the thread, I am not welcome.
Coffee Talk is an open forum, provided for the benefit and amusement of ALL SI members, and as you have suggested (but been unable to uphold), differences of opinion should be welcome. A cult exists when those who "belong" cannot tolerate or accept anyone who offers criticism.
Not once have you apologized for offending me. Not a hint that perhaps the intent of the thread was lost - for me at least - because the matter was approached with insensitivity.
If you want to create a utopian world, you will put out the Welcome Mat instead of pulling it out from under the feet of those who express opposition to your approach.
