Actually this is not "a" market at all but several "markets". The DOW and NASDAQ indexes used to be fair indicators of what broad segments of the "market" was doing. But while several hot sectors went ballistic last year and early this, several other sectors were in the shitter. Since April, as many of the high flying sectors have devalued, some previously ignored sectors have moved up. So while most people on SI like to chase after the same hot tech stocks and are amazed when they fail to move up without limits, some of us are trying to stay in step with whatever sector is showing the best returns. About the only thing anyone can count on is that the "market" will stay volatile and money will rotate quickly from sector to sector. Until solid trends emerge in the tech sectors, it's best to stay very nimble and rotating on a dime.
