Regarding the missed earnings vis-a-vis the actual sales numbers, it may just be that there were some additional charges or maybe they had to reduce their profit margins to clear out some of the models being supplanted by the newer models. Hence, Apple would have made over 1.9B sales this last qtr and higher earnings. Does this sound plausible? Of course, it may just be that their earnings pre-announcement has gaps in logic because they couldn't explain it otherwise without letting the cat out of the bag. This definitely has been a frustrating week for all. I believe the Japanese stock market did a much better and fairer treatment of the Apple announcement. There are just too many cowboys in the US managing big sums of $$ that don't know why they buy one stock versus another. That IMHO explains, in part, the lunacy that took place the last couple of days.

Regarding Apple opening up some stores, why is there so much rumour about it? If it were to be true, is it good or bad for Apple?
